David is in Lufkin tonight. He will be leading a convoy of national guard. Not much details yet since he does not know the details. At least he got work to do!

Names got lost!

So, the update is......Emergency operations Center in Houston lost the names of about 50 troops (David was one of them) and never realized that they were there. Just this morning they realized they had 50 more people waiting on work and will begin assigning them. David has not received an assignment yet but will soon.

Still Nothing

Well, David spent a night in his car because he did not want to sleep in his sleeping bag again. He said he slept well. all the troops changed schools last night and actually went to a different school that had power, with that they got a good hot meal.

He woke up this morning to only find out that there still is no update. About 4 troops got a "job" this morning and left but nothing for them. He waits. About the only excitement he got today was the fact that the tankers came out to the school stadium to top off their cars with gasoline.

Tiny Update!

David is still waiting in Houston! He has still not done anything as far as true work goes. They are waiting for about 150 more troops this afternoon from Austin and his gut feeling is that they will all get sent to Galveston as a group. Still waiting.

He is holding up good but is having a hard time living off cokes, crackers, peanuts and dry sandwiches. All the restaurants are closed! He is definately looking forward to some normal food.

All is well!

Well the hurricane hit Galveston and Houston about 2am this morning. Dave is sleeping at a middle school in Houston. I watched the storm from about 2am to 5am.

finally David called about 8am and said that he slept throught the storm. He heard the wind a couple of times, but both times he just rolled over and went to bed. That's the story guys!

Now, they are going to figure out what to do next and who to rescue. Will keep you informed.

Update on David

As some of you know, David's class in Austin got cancelled and David came home yesterday evening. He only had enought time to re-pack his bags and take off for Houston this afternoon. He is helping with Hurricane Ike.

I was really worried about him leaving but I know that he is with a great group of guys (Troopers) and they take care of each other well.

Right now, things aren't looking too good for Houston or Galveston. In fact, some computer models show a completely flooded Galveston (15 foot water surge) and a possible flooding all the way to downtown Houston. Scary!

So, I will keep you updated on Dave's adventures so stay tuned!

I just love this song

Many of you don't know, but my favorite type of music are oldies (specifically 50's and 60's). In fact, 2 favorite preset stations on my Sirius radio in my car are oldies. My favorite singer of all time is Paul Anka.

Since I love this song so much, I wanted to share this with everyone. Not only is he handsome but he has some great pipes!
